Hello My name is Russell Theaker the proprietor and Head Restorer here at THE CANE & RUSH WORKSHOP.
I have been restoring cane and rush seating for many years and have developed a reputation for restoring cane, rush and other types of woven furniture to very high standards, due to the training I received and my passion for the traditional methods I use to restore.
I successfully completed my training in what was the last workshop in the High Wycombe Area dedicated to the art of rush matting and cane work before working in the main workshop restoring cane and rush furniture. The methods we use can be dated back over 100 years, when the workshop was originally Holt and Son, a leading cane and rush chair maker founded in 1907. The techniques we use are no different now to how they were then, using the same hand held tools to weave beautiful designs. It is the dedication to the finer points of our craft that makes our finished product stand out.
